Belle Mont Farm Resort

Unique out-of-the-box experience

This week we will be exploring St-Kitts and the Belle Mont Farm Resort.

If you have never visited St-Kitts then you are missing out on a beautiful island.

When I think about St-Kitts, I think of its people, they are genuine, kind, gentle, and hospitable, their island is so beautiful, beaches, volcano sites, rolling hills and farms, and adventure, with farm to table meals.

Okay, I guess it sounds like most of the islands in the Caribbean, but there is just something so special about St-Kitts, and visitors come back year after year.

No photo description available.

St-Kitts is an island built on a volcano; it offers lush rainforests, ruins testifying of a bygone era, wonderful cultural heritage, and true Georgian charm. St Kitts offers a wide range of resorts, with all-inclusive resorts, villas, and more wonderful restaurants, cultural and historical sites.

Pristine beaches of various colors abound, offering a slew of water sports for practice.

The History of St-Kitts;

Although the island had already been inhabited by Amerindian people, its modern history began in 1493 when Christopher Columbus sailed past the island and named it St Christopher's. Speculations claim that he would have named it after himself.

First settled by the British in 1623, the islands became an associated state with full internal autonomy in 1967.

With 70 sugar plantations that can be found on St Kitts, it remains the only Leeward Island that still grows sugar cane.

So, where is St-Kitts located you ask?

Part of the Leeward Islands in the eastern Caribbean, St Kitts, and Nevis is very mountainous islands of volcanic origin.

It is actually made up of three groups of volcanic peaks split by gorges.

Mount Liamuiga, rising to 1,156 m above sea level, is the highest point of the island.

The word Liamuiga means fertile land in the Carib language.

The rich soil allows for a lush rainforest and rolling plains ideal for farming and plantations.

Basseterre is St Kitts' capital, which is divided into 14 administrative parishes. Nevis, a mere 3 km to the south, is a beachcomber's and nature adventure's paradise, with its luxurious vegetation, coconut grove, and infinite stretches of coral or silver-sand beaches.

If you love being out in Nature, then St-Kitts is definitely a destination you want to visit.

St Kitts presents an incredibly varied landscape, each more spectacular than the next. Mostly covered by mangroves and swamps along the southeastern perimeter, going inland slowly reveals a lush rainforest, climbing the steep slopes of the mountain ranges: The North West Range, the Central Range, and the South East Range. So high are the peaks, they are occasionally shrouded in clouds. The national flower is the Poinciana, also known as the Flamboyant. Other trees, shrubs, and flowers found here include coconut palms, palmettos, lemon trees, bougainvillea, hibiscus, and tamarind.

Bird watchers flock to this destination to view some of the 90 birds species found on the island, some endemic. The national bird is the brown pelican. Here you can observe, depending on the region and landscape, frigate birds, herons, stilts and oystercatchers, thrashers, doves and hummingbird, hawks, vireos and warblers, vervet monkeys

Diving is a great way to explore the rich marine life, mostly consisting of snappers, angelfishes, chubs,

barracudas, stingrays, and turtles.

Now that we have gotten to know a bit about St-Kitts, let’s explore the Belle Mont Farm Resort.

SUSTAINABLE LIVING AT OUR ORGANIC FARM ON ST. KITTS

The five-star eco-chic resort, Belle Mont Farm is nestled on Mount Liamuiga amongst 400 acres of fertile, organic farmland and lush tropical forest on the island of St. Kitts in the West Indies and transformed into authentic culinary experiences in our farm-to-table dining.

Kittitian Hill is committed to sourcing as much as possible from the land, forest, and sea that surrounds the hotel. We work closely with sustainable farms and nearby suppliers who share our desire for responsible fishing, farming, and animal husbandry, to provide you with whatever we can’t produce ourselves.

We also cooperate with local community farms to reduce the island’s need to import fruit and vegetables. By sharing our expertise and organic approach, we can help the surrounding community successfully cultivate quality food without the use of pesticides or unnecessary chemicals.

When it comes to the accommodations you have a choice from the cottage to a Farmhouse to a villa.

All accommodations have access to all the pools (infinity pool) and beach.

This resort is open for families, couples, singles, and weddings.

FROM OUR FARM TO YOUR TABLE

Twice weekly, guests gather around our 30 foot “Farm Table” to partake in an evening of reverie, companionship, and seasonally rotating fare brimming with West Indian zest, our signature farm-to-table experience. From the moment you enter the pergola your senses reel with delight. The lights twinkle gently as the refreshing rainforest breeze rolls inland from the distant ocean, bringing a hint of salt and spice, a prelude of scents to come.

The other guests arriving introduce themselves and as you take your seat; seemingly endless verdant greens appear fresh from the garden, starting the feast. Head Chef John and his team usher in yet more variety: the handmade loaves of bread, soft and warm along with sweet mango relish and spicy chutneys, blend with the delectable aroma of lamb lollipops roasting in the authentic tableside brick oven. A veritable cornucopia of tastes envelope your palate, the myriad of dishes are passed, family-style from person to smiling person – always something new to try.

Pace yourself, there is a medley of meats and veggies aplenty yet to sample.

The complimentary wine and spirited stories flow with the setting sun. You and your fellow travelers embrace the shared friendship of this unique event, kept warm by the jovial atmosphere and blazing bonfire. This will be remembered always as “that one night” on your Caribbean vacation you’ll talk about for years to come. As you make your way back to your accommodations, your new friends may suggest aperitifs at the Mill Bar – a perfect nightcap for a perfect evening.

Enjoy Fresh, Local Dining at our organic Caribbean Restaurant located at the resort.
