Sea & Sand
Two Paradise Islands in the Pacific Ocean
But which destinations are better?
Hopefully, I will be able to help you as you discover which Island is best suited for your needs.
Both Islands are quite different, so making the right decision between Fiji and Tahiti is very import especially if you are looking for a certain experience.
Now if your priority is beaches then Fiji would be a better choice for you.
Fiji has countless soft white sand beaches, many of which have the real deserted island feel to them.
That’s especially true of the beaches that exist on Fiji’s remote outlying islands.
Tahiti has some great beaches too, but they are not as soft as Fiji’s – even in the trendy destination of Bora Bora.
There are over-the-water bungalows as well in Fiji, we will discover one of them in this blog. One thing to keep in mind, that Fiji is a bit more commercialized.
Fiji however is more adorable than Tahiti. So if you are on a tight budget, Fiji is more affordable than Tahiti, just in the accommodations, but food and activates as well.
Beautiful on Mamanuca Islands
As a general rule, the more remote you go to Fiji, the more spectacular the beaches are.
Some of the favorite beaches are on the dreamy Mamanuca Islands.
They are a group of outlying islands that has a real castaway feel.
***Just be careful, as seven of the islands are covered by water at high tide***
One of the most beautiful beaches in Natadola Bay. The crystal clear water here is lapping against the Sunkissed sand that makes it a perfect spot to relax.
One of the top snorkeling spots in the Rainbow Reef at Taveuni.
Expect to see multi-colored coral and long with multi-colored fish, what a beautiful site to see!
Make sure you bring with you a great underwater camera with you as you will not want to miss a couple of photos of the beautiful fish that you will see.
Fiji offers many things to do, just not beaching.
There is a volcanic island that has a lush mountainous interior that is begging you to explore the island.
Hike through the rainforest at Bouma National Park and head to the towering Tavoro Falls. This group of three waterfalls has pools that are perfect for swimming.
Within this spectacular forest backdrop, keep your eyes wide open for many colorful species of parrots.
So, once you feel rested and you are thinking, okay I am ready to explore for a couple of days. Time to tackle Fiji’s highest peak Mount Tomanivi on Viti Levu.
The hike can be tough but the panoramic views across Fiji are just breathtaking.
Over-Water-Bungalows are also in Fiji :)

One of the top waterfalls is the Afareaitu Waterfall (Vaioro Falls) which is tucked behind the lush mango trees and ferns.
Back on the island of Tahiti, be sure to visit the mysterious Mara’a Grotta Cave with a rock pool. The cave seems like it rains on the inside, which is the water seeping through from the mountain above.

At the Polynesian latitudes, it’s summer year-round! However, you can distinguish two main Tahitian weather patterns: the dry season and the rainy season. The dry season lasts from May to October and has balmy temperatures between 71°F and 80°F/21°C and 27°C. While the rainy season typically lasts from November to April, is a little warmer (between 77°F and 95°F/25°C and 35°C), and subject to tropical showers, which rarely last longer than 30 minutes.
