Banff - Banff to Jasper Self Drive

Departing Banff today, you will travel the historic Bow Valley Parkway to Lake Louise, the Jewell of the Rockies. Spend some time at leisure to enjoy the view and explore the area around this iconic lake.
We continue to the Icefield Parkway, one of the most scenic highways in the world and the main highway connecting the resort towns of Banff and Jasper. Rich with wildlife, ancient glaciers and pristine lakes, keep your cameras handy as there is a photo opportunity at along every curve in the road.
This afternoon stop at the Columbia Icefields Discovery Centre where you can board the Ice Explorer, a specially designed vehicle that travels right onto the Athabasca Glacier, the largest non-polar icefield in the world. You can walk, feel and even drink from the Athabasca Glacier, it is truly the opportunity of a lifetime!
At the conclusion of your spectacular day on the Icefield Parkway, you will arrive in Jasper National Park and the quaint mountain town of Jasper.

The Columbia Icefield is located in Jasper National Park. The Icefield – the largest body of ice in the Canadian Rockies – is one of the reasons why the United Nations declared Canada's four Rocky Mountain Parks World Heritage Sites. The Icefield covers 215 square kilometers with solid ice estimated up to 365 meters (1200 feet) deep. Meltwater from the Icefield flows to three oceans: the Pacific, Arctic, and Atlantic via Hudson Bay.
The Ice Explorers provides all-terrain mobility to transport up to 56 passengers, equipped with large, low-pressure tires, the bus can be used to transport personnel in on-road/off-road applications. Extra-large side and top windows provide greater all-1around visibility.
